Nicola Slattery is an artist and tutor with over twenty years experience of running successful art courses. She has taught painting and printmaking to over a thousand complete beginners and many others including other professional artists.

For some a weekend art course is all about getting started and building confidence. For others it's a chance to explore new directions and techniques. Whatever your individual goals you will be taught as an individual and the focus will be on what you need and want to achieve rather than being herded along with the group. For this reason Nicola limits the maximum number of people on each course to just ten. This means you get lots of individual support so that you really get the most out of your weekend art course.

On each weekend art course the materials and equipment are provided along with a buffet lunch each day -all included in the art course fee. You have no hidden extras to worry about and no worry about buying materials etc. This means you can spend the whole time focused upon enjoying and getting the most from your art course.

The weekend art courses are suitable for complete beginners as well as those with more experience who perhaps wish to extend their abilities or seek new directions. The emphasis on each weekend is to help you develop your art individually rather than follow any set programme or regime.

Pictured Above - Nicola Slattery (on the left) offers lots of individual support on her art courses and art holidays.

Weekend Art Courses in 2012 - with places available.

Painting with Acrylic                                                                                     This is a painting course which will help you get the most out of painting with acrylics. As a painting medium Acrylic offers excellent flexibility and is great for beginners but is also used increasingly by many professional artists. Mixed with water it paints like watercolour or used straight from the tube for an effect like oils. Learn to layer paint to enrich colours, create depth,  explore composition and the many other techniques to create a successful painting.

This weekend art course is a great introduction to two very exciting and versatile techniques. Collagraph and Drypoint are different approaches which are direct and can easily be mastered to produce limited edition prints safely without chemicals, acids or technical know how. Nicola Slattery has written about these techniques for several art magazines and introduced them to over a thousand people including many other professional artists and complete beginners. Expect to produce several hand made limited edition prints on this art course using each technique.  Beginners are very welcome but the weekend is also be ideal for anyone already familiar with some aspects of printmaking and who want to develop their expertise further.
