Art and Painting Holidays with Nicola Slattery

Two exciting art holidays to choose from in September 2006

Each art holiday week is suitable for all levels of artistic experience or ability. Beginners are always very welcome as well as those with more experience who may wish to pursue a specific artistic goal. By limiting the number of participants on each art holiday to just ten you can be sure to receive the individual attention and support you need to enjoy yourself and to succeed.

An Ideal Location

The famous Broadland village of Potter Heigham with shops, pubs and boat hire is only fifteen minutes walk away. Non painting partners are always very welcome and will find lots of attractions and places to visit nearby including golf and race courses, miles of sandy beaches, nature reserves on the coast and broads, historic buildings, busy market towns, country pubs and walks.

The Art from Imagination Holiday

9th – 16th September 2006    now fully booked - reserve now for next year!

This week is all about creating art by using your own imagination. You will be helped to find inspiration from a variety of sources including dreams, life experience, other artists, magazines, literature, photographs, etc. Techniques for the week include mixed media, acrylic, watercolour, drawing, pastel, drypoint printmaking, etc. You will also be able to explore alternative perspectives and compositions. Great for beginners and others wanting to broaden their approach to art.

The Printmaking Art Holiday

16th – 23rd September 2006  now fully booked - reserve now for next year!

Here is the chance to discover how to make beautiful and interesting limited edition prints using the four different and exciting techniques of Collagraph, Drypoint, Mono and Offset. Just about everyone is amazed by their first encounter with printmaking and the week will dismiss any notion that printmaking is a cold or technical process. You don’t need any previous experience and can expect to produce a wide variety of limited edition prints using each technique. You can choose to embellish and develop these prints further using watercolour, pastel, acrylic, etc.

A Norfolk Farmhouse welcome

The venue is a working Norfolk farm and offers comfortable and homely accommodation with excellent home cooked food and friendly hosts. Most bedrooms are ensuite or share a bathroom with just one other. The art studio is just across the courtyard. It was recently carefully developed from a lovely thatched barn and offers a well lit and comfortable facility for all types of artistic endeavour. The art courses and art holidays here are very popular and early booking is advised although its always worth ringing near the time in case of a last minute cancellation.

Nicola Slattery – your tutor

From art college to the present Nicola has over twenty years of experience as a professional artist and tutor. She has accepted many invitations to teach, demonstrate and exhibit extensively across the UK and in Europe. She regularly contributes articles on technique to leading art magazines and is well known for her ability to teach, demonstrate and even inspire diverse groups and individuals of wide ranging artistic ability and experience. Her aim is always to instil and develop confidence in your artistic expression.

It is surprising how many people are amazed by their first encounter with printmaking. Perhaps this is because they thought it might be cold and technical. Instead they discover that it can be a most flexible and dynamic method of artistic expression. Four different and exciting techniques will be taught during the week including collagraph, drypoint, monoprinting and offset and all levels of ability are welcome. You can expect to produce a wide variety of limited edition prints during the week, which can be further developed using water colour and other embellishments. Printmaking is a lot of fun. It is very rewarding and forgiving even for complete beginners. This is an art holiday that will really broaden your approach to art and inspire and develop new forms of artistic expression.
