Art from Imagination
Inspiration for art has many sources. It might be still life, real life, the landscape, the human figure or the animal form. Even though many artists strive to achieve an accurate depiction of an object, creature or scene the imagination invariably plays an important role in the creative process. There are also many artists who rely solely upon their imagination for their work, drawing inspiration from dreams, words in poetry and literature and of course other visual art.
The weekend and the full week Art from Imagination art holiday will help you to utilise a variety of media to create art from within yourself using your imagination whilst drawing inspiration from a wide range of sometimes surprising sources.

Collage: From the Victorian passion for decorating objects with printed ephemera to the brash Pop Art of the 1960's, collage has been an alternative form of artistic expression. Peter Blake, collagist, painter and printmaker described it as "... the human irrepressible urge to gather, fuse and fix". Explore the amazing breadth of materials which can be combined to create a rich palette of textures and colour. This is a technique which can be equally inspiring and liberating. Whether you are an experienced artist looking for new directions or an absolute beginner all you need to do is to free your imagination and the rest will follow!
Although there is no specific collage course on offer during 2006 the Mixed Media courses, Art from Imagination and Art Holidays will have some time devoted to looking at how collage can be used to develop a work of art.
