Nicola has written several articles on Printmaking and has over twenty years experience of teaching and working creatively in this medium. She says that ... "It is surprising how many people are amazed by their first encounter with printmaking. Perhaps this is because they thought it might be cold and technical. Instead they discover that it can be a most flexible and dynamic method of artistic expression. Printmaking is a lot of fun. It is very rewarding and forgiving even for complete beginners. A printmaking course can really broaden your approach to art and inspire and develop new forms of artistic expression".

Discover Printmaking
The Discover Printmaking course is an excellent introduction to the breadth and range of printmaking techniques. Discover the unique monoprint, the versatile collagraph and the rich velvety line of drypoint. No acids or dangerous chemicals are used and the course aims to dispel any misconceptions that printmaking is 'cold' and 'technical'. Participants are guided through all stages of the printmaking process and have the opportunity to produce at least one limited edition print from each of these four exciting methods. A large number of table top presses suitable for home use are now on the market and advice on these and other equipment is included in the course. No previous experience is required.
Collagraph Printmaking
The term collagraph is derived from the Greek words 'colla' meaning glue and 'graphos' meaning to write or inscribe. You can use this direct and versatile technique to transform everyday materials such as cardboard, fabric, paper and other simple items into a printing plate without the need for dangerous acids or chemicals. The course covers all of the essential elements of making a successful printing plate, including sealing, inking and printing, and you can expect to produce several richly textured limited edition prints. No previous experience is required.
