Adventures in Acrylic - a very popular painting course and a lovely Norfolk Farmhouse venue with an excellent teaching studio.

As a painting medium Acrylic offers maximum flexibility. Mixed with water it paints like watercolour. Alternatively use it straight from the tube with a knife or brush. Learn how to make and use a 'stay wet' palette enabling paint to remain workable for weeks. Understand how to create a depth of colour using layers of paint applied in quick succession and experiment by adding texture and other elements. Acrylic can be applied to almost any surface including paper and canvas, however the course focuses mainly on painting directly onto ready primed boards. Subjects can either be representative, abstract or combinations. No previous experience is required on this painting course and the emphasis is upon an individualistic approach rather than everyone painting the same thing simultaneously.

When deciding upon any art course it's a good idea to find out how many others will be on the course. Some painting courses take more than twenty which is rather a lot for the tutor to teach properly. With Nicola Slattery's  courses there is never more than ten participants which means individual support to work at your own pace and in your own style.
