Nicola Slattery graduated from Coventry Art School in 1986 and has become well known for her distinct figurative style of painting and printmaking. Now an established artist, her work has been widely exhibited across the UK and abroad and has featured on TV and on covers and inside several national art magazines. Her style and approach has influenced many other artists and examples of her work are in numerous corporate, public and private collections. She also runs a small number of art courses each year which are suitable for all levels of ability.

As an art tutor Nicola Slattery has a reputation for being calm and inspirational. She has written about the techniques she teaches on her art courses for various national art magazines and has over twenty years experience of teaching art to people of diverse ages, ability and backgound.

Over a thousand beginners have been helped to get started and many other experienced artists have developed their techniques, ideas and confidence on art courses with Nicola Slattery. With a maximum of just ten people on each art course her aim is to help people discover and  develop confidence in their own style and appraoch to creating art.

WEEKEND ART COURSES in 2008 with Nicola Slattery

There are 3 weekend art courses to choose from. All art courses are suitable for complete beginners as well as those with more experience who want an art course to develop new skills and approaches. These art courses have a maximum of ten places so you can be sure of the individual attention and support you need to really get the most out of your weekend.

Painting with Acrylic - a weekend art course to help you master this unique and versatile medium. Diluted with water acrylics can be used like water colour or used straight from the tube they can produce depth and colour similar to oil painting. Used properly acrylics will give great satifaction.

Art from Imagination - a weekend art course to help paint beyond the bounds of reality. Avoid being bogged down by too many rules of how to paint and draw. People can fly in dreams so why not let them fly in your art? Take another look at perspective and alter the laws of gravity. Great for beginers and those wanting to escape an artist rut.

Printmaking - a weekend art course of discovery and exploration using ink and printing plates made by you. Using safe and direct methods you will be able to master two exciting forms of printmaking - the collagraph and the drypoint and will make at least 2 plates and 2 limited edition prints - and probably more over the weekend.

When choosing an art course one very important consideration is the total number of participants. With Nicola Slattery the number on her art courses is never more than ten which means you receive the individual attention and support you need to really succeed. Getting good art tuition matters most and with Nicola Slattery you have one of the best. She firmly believes in helping people discover and develop their own approach to creating art, whether this includes realism or abstract, figurative, landscape, still life, etc.

Nicola Slattery's paintings usually sell for between £1500 and £7000. Her original prints are hand made by her in small limited editions and can be purchased from around £150.
